Accelerate vs integrate? (Pt 2)
There are seasons and cycles for everything — for rest and reflection, for learning new things, for diving in and stepping on the gas.
Driving results quickly (acceleration) is exhilarating and a challenge. There’s also more risk.
Acceleration looks like:
- Making choices
- Tying off loose ends
- Narrowing and committing to priorities
- Making good on ambitious declarations
- Letting go of distractions
- Containing future worries and ruminations on the past
Integration is more holistic, more “windy” to acceleration’s (momentarily) bullet points and straight shot path. Integration asks questions, invites new information. It honors the “how” as much as the “what,” shining a light on blind spots and jewels of light and strength.
It’s open conversations in companies (also with ourselves). It’s working on the company or the project versus in.
Which do you need more of on the whole? Is it past time for some things to happen in your life or business? Are you experiencing unintended or undesired results needing more care, attention and thought?
Take a moment to write them out now, in two columns. There are no “should’s” in this exercise. It’s subjective, depending on your goals. It’s about what you need to achieve what you want.
Take on something from your list. The thing that will make the biggest impact in line with your goals is ideal if you can identify it.
Bring it down to earth with an action plan or time set aside to do it. If you do this every week, you’ll be much more aware of how it’s going, first of all, more in touch with higher goals and what is most needed in the moment to progress them.
Results aren’t random or a foregone conclusion. They’re the result of strength and aim, balance and pace.
