Fear is an old friend of mine, and much of the common advice — be bold, you’re a rock star, follow your why, and variations on YOLO/IDGAF — for me did not produce reliable results.
Why? Because I haven’t always seen that fear is my sticking point to begin with. It’s easy to get into our heads and trick ourselves into thinking that the issue isn’t fear, but something else — including something that exists beyond our control/capacity to cope.

Recently psychologist Adam Grant wrote an article in the NYTimes on languishing or a sense of “blah” at work that so many people are experiencing right now. He doesn’t mention leisure time as a solution — but it may be just what the doctor ordered.
